I hope that everyone is enjoying the holiday season! At my house, the gifts are wrapped, the Elf is busy and the excitement is building about Santa visiting so soon! We spent this morning volunteering at a senior living community serving Christmas breakfast and that was my favorite part of the holidays so far. My son also had his Christmas play at school today - which was adorable. So, we're ready - I hope you are too! And I hope that you and your families are having a holiday filled with magic, love, excitement and giving.

When my son saw the pictures from this little lady's 3 month session, he said, "Ohhhhhh! She's cute! Cutey, cute, cute, cute!" And he is right! This little guy has been coming to see me almost yearly since he was born - and it never seems possible for him to get any cuter, yet he always does! This session he reminded me what I love so much about 2.5 year olds. They are just so authentic and genuine - and on the move! I just love this little man - he's smart, funny and cute. I hope that everyone enjoyed the holidays! I always enjoy all of that special time with the family. But, the new year is upon us and we're up and running again. This lovely little girl is so tiny and new. She was determined not to sleep for her session, but patience won and we got some sweet sleepy pictures as well as some lovely ones with her wide awake. Such an alert little girl to be so young!

And not to leave out big brother! He popped in during a feeding break, laid down on the backdrop just like this, asked me to take his picture and stayed still long enough for one shot. He promptly stood up after one click of the shutter, announced "All done!" and was on his way. Such a crack up!

Meet Sophia - The Littlest Heroes Project

Meet Sophia. She's 14 months old and has been through more in her short life than most of us will ever go through. I was so fortunate to meet Sophia and her amazing family through the Littlest Heroes Project. Sophia was born with a heart defect and didn't breathe for a solid ten minutes after she was born. She spent her first three months in the hospital where she suffered from kidney failure, cardiac arrest, damaged neck nerves, seizures, GERD, and other problems related to her heart condition. Sophia has had 2 heart surgeries and one stomach surgery - and she's doing great.

You would think that a child that has been through so much would be affected in some way by her experiences. Sophia's Mom told me in advance that she was the happiest baby she has ever met and that I would just have to meet her to see. And she was SO right! There's nothing anyone could have said to prepare me for the pure joy and happiness Sophia radiates. She is all smiles and giggles - and truly lights up the room.

Sophia's whole family is amazing. I also had the pleasure of spending some time photographing and talking to her big sister. And let me tell you, she is also an amazing girl. She has been with her little sister through everything. She has loved her, taken care of her, been scared for her, been happy for her - and has come through with more maturity than someone her age should probably have. But I think the giggle might be genetic because I am sure I caught one or two of those giggles from her too.

Thank you so much for inviting me into your home and allowing me to meet your Littlest Hero and your amazing family. I hope that you enjoy this preview from our session.

The Boys are Getting SO Big!

These guys are getting so grown up. They were so little when I did my first session with them (actually, you can see them in the blog header at their first session with me). Now they are 2. And let me tell you, 2 year old twin boys are BUSY! They have a lot to see, a lot to say and a lot to do! They kept me laughing because with 2 year old twins, there's really not much certainty about what's going to happen next at any given moment. But the one thing you could count on was that there would be running....and more often than not, in opposite directions. I really did have such a good time at their session - I hope you enjoy your previews!

Two and Not at All Terrible!

I've been photographing this little sweetie for a year now and we have had a number of sessions. If you are a regular blog reader, you saw her a few times around the holidays and back at her first birthday. Everytime we have met up she's been so quiet and not said a word to me - but this time, for her two year old session, she had so much to say! It was so fantastic talking to her this time and seeing more of her personality. She'll pass on the flowers, sticks are more fun. She was not too keen on just sitting down for a few minutes - but if there were bugs to examine - she was ALL over it. Such a fun session (and can I just say, I ADORE her little curls!)

I really love seeing my little clients grow and change - sometimes it is 6 months or even a year between sessions and the little ones change so much in that amount of time! Thanks so much for sticking with me for your photos - I hope you enjoy your previews!

The problem with doing portraits in the middle of a toddler party is that you are taking pictures of toddlers. Who want to be running around with the other toddlers. And can't seem to figure out why you would deny them this joy.

These littles were fantastic! We started out before the festivities got in full swing, and it only took a little bit of bribery with a Thomas Train to get some interest :) Aren't they adorable???

I took a time out from working this weekend to take my son to the Egg Hunt in Land Park. Such fun! Now that he's a little older, he really gets into this kind of stuff. It's very cute to watch.

Mother's Support Network Fundraiser

Mother's Support Network (MSN) has been an integral part of parenthood for many of us in Sacramento. The organization now needs our help to continue to operate Moonfaeries as a resource center for families.

I am working to schedule some fundraiser sessions for MSN. Here's the deal for the sessions:

- 20-30 minute session

- You get a disc with 5 fully edited photos and a print release

Cost - $150 (If purchased outside this fundraiser, normal cost is $300+)

50% will be donated to MSN. If you buy any prints, 50% of your print purchase will also be donated to MSN.

Spring is Springing!

Well, it's that time of year again! The fields of wild mustard are in bloom and they are beautiful! Last year I wanted to offer some Fields of Gold mini-sessions, but I didn't get it organized in time. So, I wanted to try it this year.

Here are the details:

Sunday, February 28

Times Flexible - Only 5 sessions available

Cost: $100

What you get: 30 Minute mini-session in a field of yellow flowers. You will get 5 proofs to choose from, and a $150 print credit*.

Great for all ages - babies will be seated in a basket or other prop to keep them steady and safe. If you are interested, contact me ASAP to schedule your session. Here's one from last year - I just love these!

*Print credit can be used for prints only. Print credit cannot be applied to digital files or canvas gallery wraps.

The Sun Came Out!

The new blog has been launched! There are still a few tweaks to be made, but I am super excited! It's much prettier than the old one AND I can post bigger pictures in the previews! Bear with me while I work out some of the kinks and try to determine exactly what size is perfect for the previews. It's been a while since we have had a nice sunny day here, but Sunday was spectacular - all day! I met this little lady and her mom in Old Sacramento and we spent an hour exploring and finding all sorts of cool places! She is so cute and was so cooperative for her session - she is such a doll!

This little guy was SO fun to photograph! It took him a little bit to warm up to me, but after he did - he was a total ham! My favorite part of our session was towards the end. He was hanging out in a tree while we took some pictures and he was being so silly - he was cracking himself up. Which in turn, was cracking me up! SO cute and funny - thanks so much for the session!

I hope everyone has had a lovely holiday season so far! Things have been a little quiet here on the blog, but that's because I have been taking a break and spending some quality time with my family in December. It has been really lovely to take a little vacation, but I am also really excited for things to pick up again in January! First session of 2010 is on January 2, so I'm not wasting any time getting things moving again!

This is little J. He just turned a year old. I can't believe it's been a whole year, it seems like it wasn't that long ago that we were doing his newborn pictures. He's such a handsome little man - and a VERY good sport! After having a big day and enjoying his birthday party, he got all spiffed up and came out for pictures. He's such a little man now - and so stinkin' cute!!

I can't believe the time has passed by so quickly! It feels like I just blinked and here we are in the next holiday season. It seems like I notice it more now that I have a kid....there's this little growing, changing, person in your life that marks new milestones with each year that passes. It makes me more reflective and I like to think I have a greater appreciation for time these days. Anyway, since we have hit the holidays again, I took some time to get my little guy out for his holiday pictures. Yes, I did use this as an opportunity to play dress up with him (the clothes don't really make the man, I know, but they sure do look cute!).... and I'm not sure how many years of this we have left before he won't let us do it anymore.

I am completely booked through the end of November and have only a few openings in December. If you would like a December session, please let me know ASAP. She was cracking me up - everytime I snapped a picture or aimed the camera at her, she made clicking sounds to imitate the sound of the camera. What a cutie! Thanks so much for a great session!

Back Again!

I had such a wonderful family vacation last week. We were in Florida visiting my family and it was so fabulous to see them all! I was lucky too, because while I was there I got to do senior pictures for my cousin, who will graduate this year. He and I have always been pretty close, so it meant a lot to me to be able to do his senior shots. And while we were at it, I snapped a few of him and his girlfriend.

And then one of my little guy. My cousin, pictured above, took him out skateboarding. And for once, he looks like a little tough guy.

We spent an evening at the park exploring and taking pictures.
